Lauren Ingebrigtsen

Praised for her strength as a dramatic interpreter and her large, colorful sound, Soprano Lauren Ingebrigtsen is earning a reputation as a powerhouse singing actor. Hailed as "strong and versatile" by the Chicago Reader, her repertoire spans centuries from the Baroque to the 21st century and she remains devoted to telling powerful stories onstage. She is currently based in Chicago and works with the Lyric Opera of Chicago as a Teaching Artist.

Most recently, Miss Ingebrigtsen performed the role of Jezibaba in Dvořák's Rusalka in Houston, with the Luke Housner Summer Opera Workshop. In 2022, she performed Edka in Jake Heggie’s Two Remain, followed by Alma March in Adamo's Little Women.  Her 2021 summer season opened with the role of Florence Pike in Chicago Summer Opera’s production of Albert Herring, followed in the fall by her directorial debut at Oklahoma City University, where she served as the artistic director of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. In November of 2022, she is stepped into the role of Mrs. Peachum in The Threepenny Opera, also at OCU. She also performed with Painted Sky Opera as a member of their Educational Outreach Ensemble and with Oklahoma City Opera on Tap. In addition to performing and directing, she served as Director of Education and Dramaturg for Oklahoma City University’s student-run opera company, OPERAtions. She is also a dedicated voice and piano teacher and prides herself on having a diverse studio of highly informed young artists who use music to get in touch with their own individual stories and identities.

She graduated with her Masters in Opera Performance at Oklahoma City University. This past March, she was seen as The Secretary in OCU’s production of Menotti’s The Consul. The is her second Menotti role- her first was in Millikin University’s The Medium as Madame Flora, a role in which she was described as “phenomenal” and a “true star” by The Decaturian. At Millikin, she received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance with a Minor in Theatre. At Millikin, she was the recipient of the Dr. Maria Klott Memorial Award for Achievement in Theatre and Music, as well as the Mary B. Merris Award for Outstanding Voice Student. She was also a member of the Sigma Alpha Iota women’s music fraternity, which granted her first place in its Scholarship Competition and Leadership Award.

She is also a strong mover and has completed courses in dance and combat, including a masterclass with Black Panther’s Janeshia Adams-Ginyard, and a course in Alexander Technique for singers with Alexandra Kassouf. She holds a certificate from the Society of American Fight Directors in Hand-to-Hand combat, and currently studies ballet at The Joffrey Ballet.
